All Minitest from range 700 are equipped with sensors SIDSP at the cutting edge of technology and, thanks to their method of manufacture, are unique with respect to their accuracy and reproducibility.
SIDSP® - principle of operation
Unlike conventional methods, with SIDSP® technology, the measured signals by the sensor are processed in digital form in the sensor himself. These signals are directly converted and processed digitally on 32 bits to get a precise thickness value. For the signal processing, sensors ICD ® use the most modern methods of telecommunications (cellular) such as digital filtering, conversion-band base, medium (Stochastic methods), etc. These methods provide a high level of quality of signal and an unequal precision which are not possible by the analog method. The thickness value is transmitted digitally to the display unit through the sensor cable.

High disturbance immunity
In the analog sensors, a few mV signal is transmitted to the measuring device and is exposed to high risks of perturbation: poor contacts, interference in the cables...
In SIDSP® sensors, the signal is processed directly in the sensor using integrated circuits in the probe, which allows transmission of digital signals of several volts insensitive to disturbance. The cable of the sensor assumes that functions of supply current and digital transmission of values of thickness to the display unit and avoiding all disturbances: your application requests a lengthened cable? No problem, the immunity remains high, even with an extension cord.
Measuring range and improved accuracy
The relationship between the electrical signal and the thickness measured is a complex relationship and must be linearized. Despite strict tolerances, each probe has slightly different characteristics. In analog devices, the linearization is done in the measuring unit with a limited number of points and cannot be 'customized' for each probe. In the SIDSP sensors, the linearization curve is stored in each probe and is automatically established during the manufacture of more than 50 points. During this calibration, it also stores changes due to the influence of the temperature for automatic compensation. There are thus not only more precise measures, but also sensors with higher ranges of measurement and resolution.
The MiniTest 700 coating thickness gauge is available in three models:
