Illumination for series 2008: it facilitates measurements on dark surfaces as well as under poor light conditions. Power is supplied by two 1.5 Volt AA batteries (not included). It is necessary to screw out the acrylic base to install the illumination unit. The light then fits from above into the acrylic base and arrests in a retaining groove.
